Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

John J Williams Hwy and Heritage Lane Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, November 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Baywood Greens.  It was reported to be a single vehicle off the roadway and on fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, water supply, scene evaluation and incident mitigation activities.

It appears that a GMC Terrain SUV was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason, striking a cluster of trees and bursting into flames.   All occupants of the vehicle were out upon arrival of fire suppression apparatus.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
