Nature: Automatic Fire Alarm

Address: 32980 Shoppes at Long Neck, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, April 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm incident at the laundromat in the Shoppes of Long Neck. The Sussex County Emergency Operations (EOC) upgraded the call to a structure fire as a result on numerous calls claiming a heavy smoke condition. The Lewes Fire Department and the Millsboro Fire Company were also alerted on this incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engines #80-3 and #80-5 from the Long Neck facility; Ladder 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility; as well the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments were to identify and mitigate the incident. Initial fire response crews immediately identified a dryer fire with no extensions and requested to reduce the incident response to just Indian River’s apparatus.
