Story

Indian River Tanker 80 Progress Update – 03/28/2014

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has selected Rosenbauer as the builder for their new pumper tanker. Indian River’s new unit will be on a 2013 Rosenbauer Commander R718 chassis with the following equipment:

• Cummins ISX12 500 HP motor;

• Allison 4000 EVS automatic transmission;

• Severe duty cab interior package;

• Electronic Stability Control;

• Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminum wheels;

• Meritor EX225 17” front and rear disc brakes;

• Setcom-Bostrom CommandCom Integrated Seat Communications System;

• Whelen M Series LED warning light package;

• (3) color cameras with dash mounted monitor – (1) each side of cab, (1) rear of body;

• Hale QMAX 1500 GPM single-stage pump – 2,500 gallon UPF water tank;

• Rosenbauer EZ Foam system – 30 gallon UPF foam tank;

• Akron DeckMaster 3440 electric monitor;

• Power operated aluminum tread-plate hose-bed covers;

• (2) 150’ of 1-3/4” cross-lays in front bumper;

• Rosenbauer stainless steel body and sub-frame;

• (13) cab and body handrails w/integrated LED lighting;

• Harrison 10kW hydraulic generator;

• (1) Hannay 1600 Series cord reel in rear compartment;

• (6) Whelen Pioneer PFP2 12-volt LED scene lights – (2) brow, (2) each side of body; and

• Command Light KL450 3,000-watt light tower.

The truck was sold by Stephen “Redman” Maichle.

Indian River will provide periodic construction status updates as received. This is the updated received as of March 28, 2014.

Currently, the chassis is located within the electrical and wiring departments with efforts focusing on the installation of the door ajar electronic monitoring systems.  This door ajar system will monitor and alert for any compartment door ajar and illustrates icons for specific door, rear doors, light tower and ladder storage rack.  The illuminated flashing light is located between front seats near the center of the cab will activate when any ajarment id detected.
