Nature: Vehicle Accident
Location: Rosedale Rd., and John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966
On Saturday, October 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at Rosedale Road. It was reported to be three vehicle incident with one priority patient.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 2 and ground units.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation. The aviation unit was cancelled while responding to the incident.
It appears that Hyundai Sedona SUV, Honda Civic sedan, and a Toyota Camry collided while traveling on John J. Williams Highway in the area of Rosedale Road. The Hyundai sustained by both front and rear end damage, the Honda suffered front end damage and the Toyota had extensive driver’s side damage. Multiple vehicle occupants were transferred to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident detouring traffic via River Road and Layton Davis Road.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
