Nature: Outside Fire

Location: Behind the Home Depot – Coastal Highway

Address: 33648 - 33649 Village Dr., Lewes, DE 19958

On Saturday afternoon, March 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was requested for a two brush unit assist with the Lewes (82) fire department. It was reported to be a brush and woods fire between the Home Depot and the Eagle Glen residential community.

Emergency response units from Indian River included: Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility and Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility and later upgraded to include Utility #80-12 and Polaris 80.

Emergency response crew assignments include assisting with fire suppression and to activate various forestry lines into the wooded and brush area to suppress the spread of the fire.

Each of Indian River’s brush units were supplied as a result of Lewes’ engines tapping a nearby fire hydrant to establish a consistent water supply.

Crews utilized at least 500 feet of forestry to access and control the fire.
