Early Saturday morning, March 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a working structure fire in Lewes where we were requested to provide an engine crew for standby assignment at Station #1 in Lewes (82), and a separate standby crew Station #1 in Rehoboth Beach (86).

Engine #80-1 responded to the Lewes Main Station location on Savannah Road while Engine #80-5 responded to the Rehoboth Beach location on Rehoboth Avenue.

BREAKING & UPDATED: One Injured in Blaze at Overbrook Shores Development near Lewes Mar 15, 2014 -- 3:59am

UPDATED: 7:30am - It took firefighters 2 hours to control a house fire in the Overbrook Shores development this morning. Lewes firefighters tell WGMD that one person was injured in the early morning blaze – and the house was gutted. The fire also spread to a nearby field thanks to a gusty wind. Numerous fire companies helped to battle the blaze – the State Fire Marshal is investigating.

Firefighters from Lewes are on the scene of a house fire on East Mill Run in the Overbrook Shores development. The call came in just after 3:30 – Milton and Rehoboth firefighters are also on the scene. WGMD will have more information as it becomes available.
