Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Friday morning, October 22^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a DART bus.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Indian Mission Road and Phillips Branch Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a white Ford Fiesta and a DART bus collided at the 4-way stop intersection of Indian Mission Road and Phillips Branch Road.   There were no occupants on the bus and all drivers refused medical attention.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The DART Bus Service is conducting their internal investigation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
