Nature: Vehicle Fire

On Thursday morning, February 27th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Indian Summer Village. It was reported to a single vehicle, white Ford van on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments were to evaluate the incident and have a water canister available. Chief 80-15 was traveling west on John J. Willliams Highway and arrived immediately after dispatching Indian River, the vehicle encountered a brake, brake drum type of incident which cause a concern of fire.

The Delaware State Fire Police implemented lane restrictions for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
