Saturday, February 22, 2014 Sussex County Fire Chief’s Assn. & Firefighters Assn. Hosts Legislative Breakfast On Saturday, February 22nd, the Sussex County Legislative Breakfast Meet & Greet on behalf of the Sussex County Fire Chief’s Association and Sussex County Firefighters Association was held at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in Oak Orchard. The intent of the breakfast event is to promote continuity, relationships, and fellowship amongst the Sussex County elected official delegations as well as the Sussex County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Sussex County Fire Chief’s Association as well as each respective fire company president and fire chief. This event highlighted some of the issues that have impacted our respective fire districts as well as promoting dialogue to brainstorm solutions or potential ideas. Specific acknowledgements were directed to retired State Representative Biff Lee for his past support and assistance as well as thank you for the firefighter revolving funds legislated to offer low interest loans to fire companies for apparatus acqusitions. Ladder 88 was provided for a demonstration and discussion point to illustrate the benefits of the firefighter revolving fund efforts. We, the hosting organizations, are thankful to our elected officials for participating and attending. The event was coordinated by the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the breakfast was catered by Indian River's Ladies Auxiliary. |
