Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Entrance to White House Beach

On Monday evening, October 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at or near the entrance to White House Beach.  It was reported to involve a motorcycle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional ancillary alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization if needed, vehicle stabilization if needed, traffic control, establishment of a landing zone, and overall incident mitigation efforts.  A landing zone was established at the Neighborhood Store parking lot.

It appears that a maroon motorcycle was traveling on Long Neck Road and failed to successfully navigate the turn near the entrance to White House Beach, left the roadway and struck the split rail fencing. The operator the motorcycle was flown to a trauma medical facility.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control with limited traffic patterns for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
