On Sunday evening, September 26th, while completing an earlier assignment with the Rehoboth Beach (86) Volunteer Fire Company, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Rehoboth Beach (80) and Bethany Beach (70) with a water request incident.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company did respond with the following apparatus – Brush 80-0 with 80 Marine 2 from our Long Neck facility and Utility 80-8 with 80 Maine 1 from our Oak Orchard facility. Both marine units did launch from the Massey's Landing Public Ramp with specific assignments and areas to coordinate a grid related search. The marine units were assisted by the Delaware State Police Aviaiton Unit - Trooper 2 and the United States Coast Guard Aviation Unit.
Pursuant to the information published via WRDE News “… Firefighters, Delaware DNREC Marine Police, and the United States Coast Guard were on the scene in the Rehoboth Bay near Conquest Road Sunday evening after a boat was found out in the bay without a person on board.
Crews from Bethany Beach (70), Rehoboth Beach (86), and Indian River (80) were dispatched for the water rescue around 7 p.m. Details remain scarce, but the USCG confirms they are on the scene and have recovered a man but would not confirm whether or not he had survived.”
Additional information will be published upon availability.
