Story

Indian River’s Summer / Fall 2021 Adopt-a-Highway Clean-up Day

Saturday, September 28th, 2021

Location: Oak Orchard Road

On Saturday, September 25th, 2021, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company coordinated its Summer / Fall 2021 Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up program and cleared the entire section of Oak Orchard Road and well as the roadways in the Driftwood Village development off Oak Orchard.

Approximately twenty-three (23) volunteers arrived at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in Oak Orchard and commenced with the clean-up activities picking up the roadside debris which accumulated truck loads and a trailer full of discarded debris.

This most current Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up effort was coordinated by Syndey Deery where many bags of trash and household debris were collected.  Sydney volunteered to coordinate this clean-up activity to develop leadership skills for her high school extra-curricular programs.

Illustrated herewith are photographs of the activities of the day.
