Nature: Service Call-Fire Alarm System Shut Off

On Friday evening, January 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a service call incident to evaluate a broken water pipe in a residential garage and locate the water shut off. It was reported that the sprinkler system water pipe broke in the garage causing significant flooding in the area. It is estimated that water was approximately 2’ deep prior to accessing the garage area.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments were to locate the water shut off and assist with water extrication from the foyer area. All of the water departed the garage upon opening the garage doors.

The alarm company was notified of the system shut off and the property owner was notified of the incident.
