Nature: Vehicle Fire

On Sunday morning, January 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on John J. Williams Highway near Sherwood Forest.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 and Incident Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response assignments included for the Delaware State Fire Police to shut down John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident, to evaluate the vehicle and identify the source and concern of the incident.

It appears that a dark green Buick sedan was traveling east on John J. Williams Highway and encountered an apparent electrical malfunction causing an extensive smoke situation.

The Delaware State Police coordinated the removal of the vehicle.
