Monday January, 20 2014 Long Neck Boy Scouts Troop #5 Tours Fire House On Monday evening, January 20th, the Long Neck Boy Scout Troop #5 toured the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company Main Station in Oak Orchard. The intent of this fire house tour was to review various fire prevention awareness techniques as well as to acclimate the younger scouts with basic life safety skills which included but not limited to: (1) working smoke detectors save lives; (2) develop residential escape plans; (3) fire house and apparatus familiar; (4) firefighter protective gear awareness; and other questions and answers as encountered by the visitors. The troops were allowed to review the various apparatus compartments and identify firsthand the tools and equipment utilized in vehicle rescue and fire suppression activities.
