"You Could Be the Neighbor, Who Saves a Neighbor" - Indian River's Recruitment Campaign Initiative

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continues its recruitment campaign, aimed at building its volunteer base and increasing community involvement.

For the past 68 years, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has protected the people and property of it's fire district and assisted mutual aid companies and plans to continue the same.  With nearly 450 emergency calls per year, Indian River VFC is seeking individuals to join their team as a firefighter. Training from the Delaware State Fire School, along with top-notch gear, are free to all volunteers, in accordance to NFPA standards.

Campaign efforts include a new slogan, “You Could Be the Neighbor, Who Saves a Neighbor,” along with television ads, internet and Facebook ads on fire company sites, flyer distributions, and increased participation at local events, including fire prevention and other school functions.

To learn more about Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and their volunteers, visit www.irvfc.com. There, they can complete an inquiry form and begin the volunteer application process - http://www.irvfc.com/page/become-a-member.

Indian River Volunteer Fire Company’s recruitment campaign will run through 2023. It is funded entirely through the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response (SAFER) grant by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), awarded to the department with 2017 application process.

“As a volunteer service entity, we face interesting challenges,” Membership Committee Chairperson Steven Deery said in a statement. “We’re in proximity with resort communities, and of course our beach community, so we see a variety of incidents involving car accidents and water emergencies. We offer the best training for any emergency, and we look forward to welcoming new volunteers to the department.”

You may review previous recruitment videos that highlight the testimonials of our volunteers that have gained a lot of knowledge and friendships along the way. They all have indicated that they enjoyed every minute of firefighting and emergency response at Indian River VFC and look forward to continuing for years to come.
