Thursday January, 9 2014 @ 23:55:51 Nature: Alarm Company Address: 27270 18th Blvd, Marina Bay in the Peninsula, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Thursday, January 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm incident on the 18th Blvd in the Marina Bay section of the Peninsula off of Bay Farm Road. The alarm system notification identified a water flow indicator at the location and that a responder was not identified as of yet. Emergency response units included Ladder 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included to identify the cause of the automatic alarm and mitigate the incident. All crews identified an audible and visual alarm but not visible water leakage from the initial walk-thru inspections. Water drainage via the storm drains were evident on the exterior. Upon further inspection it was identified to be a broken water pipe for sprinkler system at the basement level of the elevator shaft. The elevator shaft hosted approximately 3-4 foot of water associated with the active leak. The alarm system water supply was shut off in order to discontinue the issue pending arrival of the alarm company representative and restoration of the pipes. The alarm system was deactivated pending resolution of the issues by the alarm company. The alarm company, water company and property management will work to resolve the issue and restore the fire suppression and alarm systems. |
