Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: Across From Serendipity Restaurant

On Friday afternoon, December 27th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire in the vicinity of Serendipity Restaurant in Oak Orchard. An incident synopsis provided prior to arrival was vehicle fire with exposures to a residential structure.

Emergency response units included: Chief 80-15, Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Fire Marshal (FM-10).

Emergency response assignments included to access the manufactured home park across from Serendipity Restaurant and to provide a quick vehicle fire knock down as well as protecting the exposures of the nearby manufactured home.

Engine #80-1 arrived on-scene and initiated a 1 ¾ fire suppression attack line in order to mitigate the fire as well as prevent the spread into the nearby residential structure. Rescue 80 arrived and provided manpower and resource assistance.

Engine #80-3 was utilized for manpower pool resources. It appears that the vehicle, a maroon and silver Ford F150 pick-up was parked next to a residential structure and caught fire possibility near the engine compartment. The engine compartment was fully involved upon arrival of Engine #80-1

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries associated with the incident.

Delaware State Fire Marshal Investigating Fire in Pickup Truck in Oak Orchard

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that scorched a pickup truck in Oak Orchard.

Firefighters from Indian River were called for a vehicle fire on River Road, across from the Serendipity Restaurant just after 11:45 Friday morning. Firefighters were told that a maroon and silver Ford F150 was on fire, and a nearby house was exposed to the smoke and intense heat. When firefighters arrived, they found thick flames and smoke pouring out from under the hood. They were able to quickly put the fire out.

The truck was heavily damaged. It’s unknown how much damage was done to the nearby house.
