Stonewater Creek Hosts National Night Out Community Event

On Tuesday, August 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was invited to participated with a National Night Out Community Initiative for communities to come together in an effort to build relationships. 

“Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more,” the National Night Out website states.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company collaborated with its Fire Prevention Cohort and provided various discussions for fire prevention and fire safety, as well as a fire prevention booth with educational and informational hand-outs for topics which included but not limited to:

  1. Apparatus Display & Discussion for Engine #80-3

  2. Fire Safety Topics

  3. Fire Prevention Topics

  4. Smoke Detector Awareness

  5. Wildfire Risk Reduction & Safety Tips

  6. Summer Season Safety Tips

  7. Campfire Safety Tips

  8. Firework Safety Tips

  9. Barbecue & Charcoal Grill Safety Tips

Approximately 156 persons attended the event which included great discussion and dialogue regarding the aforementioned topics as well as firefighter recruitment and retention possibilities.
