Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Sassafras Rd and Indian Cabin Creek Rd Pots Nets Bayside, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, July 31^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Sassafras Road and Indian Cabin Creek Road in Pot Nets Bayside off Long Neck Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.  It was reported to be a single golf cart, overturned with possibility of three patients.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization if needed, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and incident mitigation.

It appears that the golf cart was navigating the paved roadway surfaces in the Pot Nets Bayside development and lost control for an unknown reason and overturned.  Three persons were evaluated for EMS protocol and at least two were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.  The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was cancelled while responding to the incident and the Sussex County Paramedics were utilized for services.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
