On Saturday, December 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to four different emergency situations which included: (1) Child Locked in an automotive vehicle; (2) Medical Alert Sounding; (3) Structure Fire – Willow Lane (4) Structure Fire Assist – Selbyville Fire Company.

Incident Alert #1 – Child locked in a vehicle – Valero – Gas Pump #4

At approximately 2:18 p.m. on December 7th, the Indian River VFC was alerted for child locked in an automobile on Oak Orchard Road at the Valero Station at Gas Pump #4.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments were to utilize the vehicle access tools to gain entry into the vehicle.

Incident Alert #2 – Medical Alert Activation – Outrigger Court – Rehoboth Shores

At approximately 2:53 p.m. on December 7th, the Indian River VFC was alerted for a medical alert activation on Outrigger Court in the Rehoboth Shores development off of Long Neck Road. This incident was based upon the local emergency medical service ambulance being unavailable.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crews determined that the incident was the result of an accidental activation.

Incident Alert #3 – Structure Fire – Willow Lane

At approximately 5:51 p.m. on December 7th, the Indian River VFC was alerted for a structure fire on Willow Lane just off of John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to be a kitchen fire that extended behind the cabinetry.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crews determined that the incident was extinguished upon arrival and the residential structure needed evaluation, positive pressure ventilation, and overall assistance with clean-up.

Incident Alert #4 – Stand-by Cover-Up Assignment – Dagsboro (73) Fire Company

At approximately 6:13 p.m. on December 7th, the Indian River VFC was alerted for a stand-by cover-up for Dagsboro Fire Company that was at a working residential structure with the Frankford (76) and Selbyville (88) volunteer fire companies on Gum Tree Road, Dagsboro.
