Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Silicato Dr and Indian Mission Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Saturday morning, July 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Indian Mission Road at Silicato Drive. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police

Emergency response crew assignments included gaining access to the vehicle to verify occupancy as was as assistance with extrication from the vehicle, traffic control, and incident mitigation.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet sedan was traveling north on Indian Mission Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason and ran into a marshy area and ditch leaving access to the vehicle limited.  Indian River utilized a ground ladder to secure a good pathway while assisting the occupant out of the vehicle to awaiting EMS personnel.   The occupant refused additional EMS services.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
