Monday November, 25 2013 @ 09:09:48 Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS Address: Oak Orchard Rd and John J W Millsboro, 19966 On Monday morning, November 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near the entrance to the Trading Post Shopping Center approaching Oak Orchard and Mount Joy Road. It was reported to be a single car vehicle striking a large 12 wheeled dump truck. Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, where needed; vehicle stabilization; fluid and debris mitigation; traffic control and scene preservation. It appears that a large 12 wheeled dump truck was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway when the Pontiac Sunfire struck the truck for an unknown reason causing significant damage to the vehicle. The occupant of the Pontiac was transported to nearby medical facilities by the local emergency medical services provider. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for this section of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
