Nature: Water Rescue Priority 1 - Assist Millville - Marine Collision Incident

On Sunday, July 4th, the Indian River (80) and Bethany Beach (70) volunteer fire companies were alerted to assist Millville (84) Fire Company with a priority water rescue incident involving a collision with two vessels on the Indian River Bay off of Holts Landing State Park.  It was reported to be a total of three injured subjects with one in cardiac arrest.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 1 responding to Massey’s Landing Boat Ramp and Brush 80 with 80 Marine 2 responding from the White House Beach Marina.  Other incident alerts included Delaware State Police Trooper 2 Aviation was unavailable therefore LifeNet2 Aviation was requested as well as the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments were to launch vessels and proceed to the area of Holts Landing to offer assistance as needed.  80 Marine 1 was assigned one of the Sussex County Paramedics for transport to the incident location.  80 Marine 2 was assigned to respond to the incident location.

All Indian River marine units and personnel were cancelled after launching from the various boat ramps or marinas.

Millville’s Incident Command operated out of the Holts Landing Boat Ramp area.
