Nature: Brush Fire

Location: Near Long Neck Elementary School

Address: 26064 School Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, November 14th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush fire near the Long Neck Elementary School between the school and Bayshore development. It was reported to have best accessibility via the Bayshore development entrance. It was determined that the brush fire was between the development and the elementary school in the wooded areas.

Emergency response units included Brush #80-00 and Engine #80-2 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Brush #80-0 and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility. The Delaware State Fire Police responded to both locations within the development and elementary school.

Emergency assignments included initiation of brush truck booster lines for fire suppression activities as well as rakes and brushes to assist with mitigation.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office was notified based upon the reports of suspicious origin. The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
