Nature: Heat Advisory in effort from 11 a. to 8 p. Thursday - July 21, 2022

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company offers this commentary illustrating the pending hot and humid environments within our area over the next few days.  Heat indices (apparent temperatures) will near or exceed 105 degrees in many areas during the afternoon hours on Thursday, 07/21/2022

Apparent temperature is the temperature equivalent perceived by humans, caused by the combined effects of air temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. The measure is most commonly applied to the perceived outdoor temperature.

Please remember to:

  • Drink plenty of fluids,

  • Stay in an air-conditioned room,

  • Stay out of the sun, and

  • Check up on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.

When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.

Use safety cautions.
