Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 26858 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, June 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway between Oak Orchard Road and Layton Davis Road.  It was reported to be two vehicle collision with possibly four persons needed evaluation.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80-15 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.   

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization and evaluation when needed, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a white Subaru SUV was traveling east on John J. Williams Highway and was struck from behind by a maroon KIA Sedona minivan causing significant damage to both vehicles.  All vehicle occupants refused additional medical observations.

The Delaware Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident while John J. Williams Highway was temporarily closed for to allow for debris and fluid clean up.       

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
