Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

On Monday morning, November 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of East Gate Presbyterian Church. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision.

Emergency response units included: Engine #80-5 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck facilities, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, where needed; vehicle stabilization; debris/fluid recovery; as well as assisting with traffic control during the incident.

It appears that a black Nissan SUV type vehicle was traveling north on Long Neck Road and collided with another northbound Jeep Cherokee SUV type vehicle.  The collision caused injury to the operator of the Jeep and extensive front end damage to the Nissan.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation by the local emergency medical services provider.

This section of Long Neck Road was limited to one lane traffic for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
