Nature: Fire Police Pursue Inservice Training
Location: 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966
On Tuesday evening, June 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted an in-service training for all fire police officers in and for Sussex County to partake in the American Traffic Safety Services Association’s Flagger Course in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices of the United States Federal Highway Administration.
It was intended for these fire police officers to enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities with hand signaling devices, flagger’s position on the roadway to secure one’s safety, flagger’s need for an escape plan, designated areas for advanced warning area, warning sign sizes, and flagging procedures to highlight a few covered topics.
The training included classroom instruction with hands-on as well as a written final examination and practicum for a four (4) year certification period.
