Sunday October, 20 2013 @ 22:49:17 Nature: Structure Fire – Assist Rehoboth Beach (86) Address: 35577 High Alpine Ln., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 On Sunday evening, October 20th, the Indian River (80) and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted to assist the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company with a working structure fire on High Alpine Lane in the Aspen Meadows Development off of Munchey Branch Road. It was reported working and to be fully involved. Indian River’s emergency response units included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response assignments included to have manpower resources respond to the manpower pool and were later assigned to assist with extinguishment, overhaul, and recovery. Rehoboth Beach’s first arriving officer identified that the incident was as reported, fully involved with heavy fire showing. Nearby residents identified that all occupants of the structure were out of the residence; however, the family canine and feline were not. Immediate fire suppression and exposure assignments were delegated to the first and second arriving units, and then additional resources were allocated from the next due emergency response units. Rehoboth Beach House Fire Under Investigation Updated:Oct 21, 2013 2:39 PM EDT REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A late Sunday night fire damaged a Rehoboth Beach home and killed three pets, fire officials said. Shortly before 11 p.m., crews with the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to a reported working house fire in the 35000 block of High Alpine Lane, in the development of Aspen Meadows, off of Munchey Branch Road. The Lewes Fire Department, Indian River Fire Company and Sussex County EMS were also dispatched to assist the Rehoboth firefighters, officials said. The first arriving Rehoboth Beach Fire Company apparatus reported the home to be fully involved on its arrival. Officials said the fire was quickly contained and brought under control. Units remained on the scene for a couple of hours doing overhaul and checking for extension, officials said. The occupant was not home at the time of the fire, but three pets died. There is no word yet as to the estimated monetary damages. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office was on the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.

Local firefighters responded at 10:47 p.m. to the home in the 35000 block of High Alpine Lane. The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, said Randall W. Lee, chief deputy state fire marshal. Three pets - a dog, a cat and a bird - perished in the blaze, he said. Neighbor Sharon Krupinski said she was home when the fire began at Viki Dee's home. Krupinksi said she heard a pop outside and her husband went out to investigate; he called 911 to report the fire next door. Lee said the fire originated in a bedroom. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
