Nature: Training – Water Rescue 2

City: Rehoboth Beach – Dewey Beach Area

 

On Sunday, May 23rd, some first responders from Indian River participated in Delaware State Fire School’s Water Rescue 2 Training curriculum hosted by the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company in their respective fire district.

The training course consisted of both classroom and field training evolutions intended to provide interested emergency service personnel with awareness of problems and solutions regarding water rescue operations. This course covers topics including but not limited to incident responder safety, basic knots, boating safety, water rescue techniques, the rules of the water, marine navigational skills, incident evaluation, vehicle trailering operations, towing & docking techniques of vessels, and basic marine & vessel operations.

Participating firefighters are also tested to receive their Delaware Safe Boaters Certification Card via the Delaware Department of Natural Resources (DNREC).
