Tuesday, October 08, 2013 Indian River Hosts Second Grade Students @ Oak Orchard Station with Commander Courage in the Fire Station Adventure Activities On Tuesday, October 8, 2013, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted the second grade students from Long Neck Elementary School to provide Commander Courage in the Fire Station Adventures. The Commander Courage is a video that takes animated characters, Commander Courage and the "Way Cool Kids," as they learn from real firefighters about life at the fire station and home safety. This enjoyable adventure takes Commander Courage, Trevor, Hannah, Luke and his dog, Siren, through an action filled journey that shows kids that they can be real heroes when they practice fire safety rules. A wonderfully entertaining combination of live action and animation delights young viewers as they learn important home safety information. Kids will love watching firefighters perform their daily routines and will learn 'Stop, Drop and Roll' and other educational fire safety messages and songs. This fun-filled video will have a life long impact on children. Every member of the family will find themselves singing along to the catchy and memorable lyrics that teach as they entertain. The fire house adventures in Oak Orchard included tours of the fire station, review of the fire company’s apparatus, video presentation, demonstration of actual firefighter in gear, as well as a luncheon of each student. These activities were coordinated with the assistance of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Fire Prevention Committee. Additional information may be obtained by viewing the following website: |
