Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: Itao Malone’s Bayside Marina

Early Monday morning, September 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the area of Malone’s Bayside Marina on Long Neck Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree.

Emergency response units included: Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization, if needed; traffic control; and scene preservation.

It appears that a gray Saturn 4-door sedan was traveling south on Long Neck Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a large tree on the opposite shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was occupied by one person who was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation and evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident utilizing an alternating traffic pattern method.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
