On Tuesday, April 20^th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) and Dagsboro (73) volunteer fire companies were alerted to assist the Millville (84) Fire Department with a water rescue priority incident.  It was reported to be a windsurfer in distress incident in Vines Creek near the area of Sandy Beach.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush 80-0 with 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility and Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response units from Indian River were assigned to launch from their respective location and respond to the incident location in the Vines Creek Area.  80 Marine 2 was launched from the Rosedale Beach (Gull Point) Public Boat Ramp and 80 Marine 1 was directed to the Massey’s Landing Public Boat for launching.

The incident was reported to be a 72 year-old male, windsurfer in distress in the Vines Creek area near Sandy Beach.  All responding units that launched were assigned to respond to the target area for assistance to the distressed windsurfer.

Responding mutual aid entities were able to provide assistance for the windsurfer and all units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
