On Saturday, August 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to three separate incidents which included the following activities: (1) Gas Leak Incident @ approximately 12:30 a.m. It was reported to be a propane leak at the blue rhino propane tanks in the front of the Food Lion complex. Engine #80-1 and #80-3 responded to the incident. The incident was determined to be unfounded. (2) Assist with Forcible Entry – BLS Fall Incident @ approximately 3:55 a.m. It was requested to provide assistance to the local emergency medical provider that needed to gain access to the interior of the residential structure in order to provide patient care. Rescue 80 responded to the incident and provided assistance. All other units were held at their respective stations. (3) Vehicle Accident @ approximately 18:25 hours It was reported to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) that a single vehicle, maroon van, struck and ran over some larger type boulders and ruptured the vehicles fuel tank. It was also reported that the vehicle fled from the incident location on Salt Marsh Loop in the White House Beach location. Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, and the local EMS provider as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Units did respond to the incident location and canvassed the area locating the vehicle elsewhere in the park and leaking fuel. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
