Nature: Structure Fire

Location: Oak Orchard Rd and Chiefs Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Saturday afternoon, April 10th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Oak Orchard Road near Chiefs Road.  It was reported to be a working residential structure fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-3, #80-1 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office.  Other arriving units from Millsboro and Lewes provided manpower and resources.

Emergency response crew assignments included implementation and activation of an interior fire suppression efforts while preserving any evidentiary materials, initiating ventilation, establishing a water supply and manpower pool.  Assistance was provided from Millsboro (83) and Lewes (82) fire companies.

It appears that Tanker 80 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke showing and initiated fire suppression efforts pending arrival of other emergency response units.  Chief 80-15 arrived and requested the next arriving unit provide interior fire suppression assistance, manpower pool resources, and water supply assistance.  

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic at the incident location and closed this segment of Oak Orchard Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.

There we no firefighter or civilian injuries.
