Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

On Wednesday, July 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center. It was reported to be two vehicles with minor injuries.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the local emergency medical service provider.

It appears that a tan Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and collided with a black Mazada Protégé that was attempting to travel eastbound on John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response crew assignments; included but not limited to, vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization, where needed; traffic control and scene preservation. It was reported that two occupants of the vehicles refused additional medical observation while another person was transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware Fire Police were ordered to close John J. Williams Highway to allow for scene mitigation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
