Nature: Vehicle Accident

Address:  25939 Plaza Dr., Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Saturday morning, March 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at Giant Foods on Plaza Drive near Long Neck.  It was reported to be two vehicle incident in the grocery store parking lot. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response personnel evaluated the incident in the Giant Parking lot and determined that minimal assistance was needed at this location.  The incident was the result of a possible medical condition when one car in the parking lot struck the rear of another vehicle within the parking spots.

Rescue 80 arrived on scene and assisted where needed.  Engine #80-1 came upon an additional accident on John J. Williams Highway in front of the Wawa while responding to the initial incident alert and remained at that incident location to render assistance. 

The local emergency service provider and was also alerted to both incident locations. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Saturday morning, March 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a second vehicle accident within the fire district.

Rescue 80 and the Delaware State Fire Police were cleared from the Giant Food incident and responded to the incident and assisted with fluid and debris recovery, patient assessment and preliminary patient care, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a red Kia Soul was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway when a black Kia SUV entered the roadway from the access road beside McDonald’s causing significant damage to both vehicles.

The Sussex County Paramedics and local emergency medical service provider also responded to the incident location. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
