Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: Dragons Lair – Trading Post Center

On Tuesday afternoon, July 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Trading Post Chopping Center in the vicinity of the Dragons Lair.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to evaluate and mitigate the incident; however, incident reports confirmed no active fire while apparatus were responding.

It appears that a Jeep Sahara type vehicle was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and may have encountered some type of mechanical problem causing a brief burning condition. Evidence of heat and burn marks were present.

There were no injuries and the situation was identified under control after an evaluation.
