Friday July, 12 2013 Nature: Low Lying Areas – Oak Orchard (District Survey) Address: Oak Orchard On Friday, July 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company monitored the rain water run-off conditions and illustrated herewith are photographs and updates throughout the fire district. UPDATE: Flood Advisory For Sussex and Kent Counties Through 1:15 PM UPDATE: The National Weather Service has expanded the Flood Advisory. The advisory now covers northwestern Sussex and southern Kent Counties, and will extend through 1:15 this afternoon. Doppler radar has indicated that as much as two inches of rain has fallen in parts of the listening area. Runoff from this rain is likely to produce flooding in streets, low-lying and poor-drainage areas. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Sussex County this morning. At 7:15 this morning, Doppler Radar indicated heavy rain moving northward. Two to four inches of rain could fall in a short period of time, resulting in flooding of roads in poor drainage areas. If you come across a flooded road, don’t try to drive through the floodwaters. Remember, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!” |
