Early Sunday morning, June 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Rehoboth Beach (86) and the Lewes (82) fire department with a structure fire on Norwood Street in the West Rehoboth development.

Indian River was alerted for the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) assignment.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Upon arrival of emergency response units from Rehoboth Beach the incident was downgraded to the units on the road from Rehoboth and Lewes; thereby, cancelling Indian River’s response.
