Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS

On Monday afternoon, June 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision involving a scooter in the Baywoods development. It was reported to be a single vehicle incident.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency crew assignments included assistance with patient and vehicle stabilization, traffic control and scene preservation, designate and establish a landing zone, as well as assistance with patient care.

It appears that a personal scooter was traveling within the residential development and lost control for an unknown reason striking the concrete curbing and tossing the rider off.

The rider did sustain significant injuries as a result of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
