Nature: Structure Fire

On Saturday afternoon, February 20^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at the Laundromat on Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be dryer fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included ventilation, fire suppression, evaluation for extensions, and overhaul.  Indian River’s Safety Officer arrived on scene and coordinated an evacuation of the facility and apprised incoming apparatus of the situation.  Tanker 80 was cancelled while responding to the incident location.

It appears that a clothes dryer caught fire in the commercial shopping center structure off Bay Farm Road.  The fire was limited to one dryer and involved excessive lint within the housing of the dryer unit as well as the clothing content within the dryer unit. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The facility manager was requested to respond to the incident location.
