Nature: Appliance Fire

Location: 25927 River Bend Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, February 15^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an appliance fire on River Bend Road near Long Neck.  It was reported to be a dryer fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression of the respective appliance, appliance removal, ventilation with salvage and recovery.

It appears that some of the apartment complex residents were drying clothes “unattended” in the laundry building when the dryer appliance and contents caught fire.  Upon arrival of Ladder 80, it was identified as a single story structure with smoke showing.  Ladder 80 initiated a fire suppression action with water cans pending arrival of Engine #80-3.  The appliance was removed from the structure with further suppression activities resulting.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene preservation.
