Nature: Automatic Crash Notification – BLS Vehicle Accident

On Thursday afternoon, May 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury accident via the vehicle’s automatic crash notification system in the Black Ford Taurus. After confirmation with the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center, it was identified that a Black Ford Taurus and gray Ford Pick-up collided at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Holly Lake Road.

Emergency response units included: Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Indian River’s Captain – Jason M. Faulkner, Sr. arrived on-scene it his personal vehicle and assumed command duties and identify that one unit would be sufficient to assist with debris and fluid recovery and all other emergency response apparatus could be cancelled.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

It appears that the Ford Pick up was traveling westbound and was struck in the right rear by the Ford Taurus sedan.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
