Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Indian Mission Rd. and Wood Ln., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday, February 6th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road near Wood Lane.  The incident was reported to be a single vehicle incident into a utility pole with minor injuries.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Other ancillary alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.  Rescue 80 was cancelled and returned while responding to the incident.

It appears that a KIA SUV was traveling on Indian Mission Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking utility pole guide wires.  The occupant of the vehicle was out upon arrival of the emergency response units and one person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
