Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS

On Wednesday afternoon, May 8th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision on Long Neck Road at School Lane. It was reported to be a head on collision.

It appears that a blue Toyota Corollas and a maroon Honda SUV were traveling on Long Neck Road and collided at the intersection causing front end damage to both vehicles and allowing fluids to spill onto the roadway surfaces.

Emergency response apparatus included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, the Sussex County Paramedics, the local emergency medical services provider, the Millsboro Fire Company ambulance as well as the Delaware State Aviation Unit.

Emergency response crew assigned included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization where needed, provide traffic control measures, commence with fluid recovery activities, and assist with overall incident mitigation to clearly the intersection and assist with traffic flow.

The initial incident reports were modified to include minor injuries with the possibility of patient transport refusals thereby allowing for reduction of paramedic unit and aviation unit response.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided assistance with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the accident.
