Early Monday morning, May 6th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for two incidents with a few minutes. The initial dispatch was for a medical assist call regarding a subject fallen as well as an automatic fire alarm at Building 13 in the Peninsula off of Bay Farm Road.

Emergency response crews responded to both incidents with 80 Incident Command from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility responding to the medical assist incident on Point View Road off of River Road near Rosedale.

Emergency response crews with Ladder 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility responding to the automatic fire alarm (AFA) incident.

The AFA had audio and visual alarms present upon arrival of emergency apparatus as well as many of the occupants out of the building.

Emergency response assignments included evaluating the building to identify the issue after analyzing the major fire alarm panel.

It was determined to be a faulty detector device and appropriate notification was provided to the alarm system provider.
