Tuesday April, 16 2013 @ 17:06:54 Nature: Washdown (fuel Spill) Location: In Front Of Giant Address: 26214 - 26301 John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday, April 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wash-down assignment in the vicinity of Giant Foods on John J. Williams Highway towards Kickin Chicken. It was reported to be an oil spill. Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. Emergency crew assignments were to evaluate and mitigate the oil spill situation. It was determined to be significant area of concern and DELDOT was notified to pursue corrective action on a larger scale. Initially, crews spread absorbent and stay dry on the roadway surface and request sand as well as street sweeper to fully mitigate the area. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance during the process.
