Nature: Washdown (fuel Spill)

Address: John J Williams Hwy & Bay Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday morning, April 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wash down (fluid recovery) assignment as the result of a property damage vehicle accident.

It appears that a Ford Taurus station wagon was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and collided with a Dodge Dakota pickup that was traveling eastbound causing various vehicle fluids to spill on the roadway surfaced.

Emergency response units included: Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency crew assignments were to mitigate the fluid and debris recovery tasks, stabilize the vehicles if needed and assist with traffic control. This section of John J. Williams Highway was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
